Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Why is brand important when buying a portable spa?
Warranty! Warranty! Warranty! Protect your self. There are a many fly by night discount online manufactures that come in and out of business and won’t be there to help you if there is a problem with your spa. Premium Spas USA sell only spas by Leisure Bay. Leisure bay is the third largest manufacturer of spas worldwide. We are affiliated with a nationwide service network and the spas are supported by the best warranty online. This means peace of mind for you.

Q: How important are the number of jets on my spa?
The number of jets is not in any way a measure of quality! Placement of jets and relative pump power is what determines the strength and effectiveness of the “water action” in your spa. Think of it this way… if you have the same pump that drives 40 jets in one spa and 60 jets in another spa, that same flow of water will be distributed over the 60 jets reducing the pressure in each jet. The most expensive spas on the market Hot Springs / Caldera always have fewer jets that are well positioned. When you see a spa touting 85 – 110 jets! You can bet you are getting an inferior product unless they have 2 or three extra pumps.

Q: What is a circulation pump?
A circulation pump is a pump that operates while the spa is not being used so that the water is in constant motion keeping it clean and free from algae. The advantage to a circulation pump is that it uses less electricity and is very quiet. All of our Luxury Spas come with a separate circulation pump. If spas do not have a separate circulation pump than one of the jet pumps is usually a 2 speed pump and it operates as the circulation pump when the spa is not being used.

Q: How much will my electrical bill change after my spa purchase?
It depends where you live. In cold weather climates you can expect to pay $40-$50 per month. In warm weather climates your electrical bill will probably run approximately $20 per month.

Q: Do I need and ozonator and what are the advantages and disadvantages of having one installed in my spa?
No you definitely do not need an Ozonator. Some people who are used to utilizing traditional chlorine and bromine like to use an Ozonator as it reduces the amount of chlorine and bromine necessary to keep your spa clean. However, even with an Ozonator, you still must use some chemicals. With BaquaSpa, an Ozonator is not necessary. BaquaSpa is free from bromine and provides crystal clear chlorine free water. BaquaSpa is as gentle on your eyes, hair and skin as it is on your swimsuit and your spa itself. There is no harsh odor and the water is “soft” as can be. BaquaSpa also relieves stress by controlling bacteria longer than bromine or chlorine so you have to use it less often. Additional BaquaSpa does not affect the pH levels, so you’ll do less testing and water balancing.

If you still choose to utilize an Ozonator, all Leisure Bay spas are Ozonator ready and we would be happy to ship your spa with an Ozonator. You can also choose to use an Ozonator with BaquaSpa products.

Q: How often do I have to put chemicals in my spa?
If you choose to use BaquaSpa you can expect to treat your spa once a week.

Q: What should I expect to pay for chemicals on a monthly basis?
BaquaSpa will cost approximately $23 per month. Traditional Chlorine and Bromine will cost approximately $15 per month.
